Welcome to second grade 2013-2014!
Dear Parents and/or Guardians,
Welcome back to school! I have had the pleasure of getting to know some of your children this past school year. I am excited and feel privileged to be with your child this school year.
Our second grade team consists of three teachers; Mrs. Carr, Mrs. Mawhinney and myself. We are working collaboratively, with the support of our specialists and Principal Mrs. Hoover, to ensure we are meeting second grade standards. We are ready to implement a positive learning environment so that your child is successful at Wickersham.
The homework packet that will be sent home daily may consist of spelling words, Everyday Math Homelinks, 15-20 minutes of reading per day and any other literacy skill activities. I will send homework daily in a yellow folder. Homework is due the next school day. Homework may be on both sides of the paper, so please check. Double check your child’s work, but please do not complete it for them.
Thursday folders are blue this school year. Papers on the return side should be reviewed and signed, if it applies, and sent back to school the following day.
The Special schedule is as followed:
Day One- Physical Education (gym); sneakers need to be worn, no skirts or jewelry (especially hoop earrings). Teachers are not responsible for lost or misplaced jewelry.
Day Two- Computer Lab
Day Three- Music
Day Four- Piano Lab
Day Five- Library
Day Six- Art
The following items may be donated for class use: tissues, hand sanitizer and snacks (cheese balls, animal crackers, pretzels).
If you have any questions please call 291-6291 ext 16101. Thank you for being a partner in your child’s education.
Fondly,
Mrs. Melendez-Swinton
